The Sketch

After viewing her Design Proposal website, Michelle contacted me and said that she loved the sketches!  Though she hadn’t decided which one was her choice, she was ready to sign the contracts, pay the deposit and book the dress!

Her mom was coming back into town soon and she wanted to meet again to show her fabrics and tweak the sketches a bit.  We met at Mulberry Silks and Michelle told me that though at first she was leaning toward the first Draped option, her final decision was Design #2, the Sleek Option.  She wanted a longer hem (just below the knee rather than just above) but otherwise she thought the design was perfect for her wedding day!

I was so happy!  This is going to be a stunning dress on her and I am really excited and honored to create it.

We showed her mom some of our favorite fabric choices and we made the decision to use some beautiful cotton/silk blends that are in Mulberry Silks’ Special Order books.  We chose smooth white for the main fabric, a textured white as an accent, and a soft pink to hide in between the folds on the back “train” detail.  The idea is that when she is standing totally still she will have an all-white dress, but when she moves (or dances!) you will see a bit of pink.  I love a dress that makes you take a second look!  Michelle will definitely be turning heads in this stunning dress!

We will meet again soon to take her measurements, and then I will start patterning and making her first mock-up early this summer!

Here’s a link to the website I made for her, where you can see her final revised pencil sketch (shown above) a little larger. Just click here.
