Lila Rose’s mockup was finally ready for our fitting! This is the test version of her custom wedding dress that I made out of muslin. We try on a test dress to make corrections for the perfect fit and to refine the style on the body before cutting the real fabric.
Everything on the mockup is basted together so that it can be easily adjusted in the fitting. The panel shapes that are down the front and the back of the dress in the sketch are just drawn with thread on this mockup. Since they are decorative and don’t have much to do with fit, I am waiting until our second fitting (the same weekend) to add the panels.
Enough words! Check out the photos!
I sent these photos to Lila Rose and she was ecstatic! She called me a “genius” and stated that it was way better than she could have ever imagined. It was just perfect for her! She couldn’t wait to try it on!!!
With all these photos of the dress in muslin, don’t forget that the dress will ultimately be executed in bright colors. When Lila Rose comes to town for her fitting is when we will pick out all of our final fabrics, so it was time to start thinking about choosing colors.
I worked up a bunch of color sketch options as a jumping off point.
Next post: Sketches with C O L O R! I’ll share with you the color-blocking combo options that we considered for this fabulous colorful wedding dress!
