And the winning design is…

© 2012 Brooks Ann Camper Bridal Couture

Finally, THIS is the pencil sketch that will become Lila Rose’s custom wedding dress!

This design features a removable train, a pencil mini-skirt, a “bustle”, 3/4 skinny sleeves with fancy sleeve heads, a V-neck with a pleated stand-up collar, an invisible zipper front closure, brightly colored fabrics and a few “wild” details.

There will still be tweaking and improving along the way (and I still needed to figure out the “bustle” and exactly how it works with this new design), but Lila Rose and I were both thrilled to have finally come together on a dress design for her wedding day!

When Lila Rose was in my studio for her Design Consultation, we took her measurements.  Once the dress was booked, while redoing these sketches, I was using those measurements to create Lila Rose’s custom dressform and moulage.

More on those, next post!

Hi there! I'm Brooks Ann.

I’m a former professional costumer and couture dressmaker for one-of-a-kind bridalwear located in rural North Carolina, who teaches custom garment sewing to sew-curious solo-sewists online.

My blog mostly follows along with the couture process of how each heirloom-quality custom wedding dress was made from idea to wedding day, as well as personal sewing projects and other couture curiosities.

All are Welcome (unless you are mean.)
